PERFORMANCE VENUES
BlackRock Center for the Arts has four attractive performance venues in which it presents artists of the highest quality in a variety of disciplines and genres. The flexibility and size of the venues frequently coincide with each performance to ensure the highest quality experience for patrons.
Mainstage
A 209-seat proscenium-style stage, the mainstage theater's many uses include: traditional stage plays, small music acts, folk artists, traditional and ethnic dances, lectures and meetings. The facility is equipped with a standard lighting plot to handle the most demanding performance. A selection of audio-visual equipment is also available; please contact the technical director for assistance.
Depending on the needs of the event (as determined by the facility technical director), a staff of stage professionals is available for events. Rental of the mainstage is by the hour; please visit the Web site's rentals information page or contact the BLACKROCK rental coordinator for further information about rentals.
Studio Theater
The Studio Theater is a "black box" multi-purpose performance space. The floor is specifically designed for ballet, modern and jazz dance. Ballet barres and mirrors on the room walls facilitate its use as a classroom and dance presentation space. The space also hosts BlackRock's Third Thursday Coffeehouse series, and is popular as a large meeting and banquet room for birthday parties, bat and bar mitzvahs, and wedding receptions.
The Studio Theater has a standard lighting plot designed around dance presentations, but is very adaptable to other uses. A selection of audio-visual equipment is also available; please contact the technical director for assistance. A staff of stage professionals is also available for events, depending on the needs of the event as determined by the facility technical director.
Rental of the Studio Theater is by the hour; please visit the Web site's rentals information page or contact the BlackRock rental coordinator for further information about rentals.
The mainstage and Studio Theater are adaptable for varied uses.
Art Gallery
Our intimate, 1500 square-foot art gallery, noteworthy for high ceilings and immense windows, serves as a performance venue for selected Sunday classical concerts.
Rental of the art gallery is by the hour; please visit the Web site's rentals information page or contact the BlackRock rental coordinator for further information about rentals.
Outdoor stage
Our outdoor stage serves as a performance venue for our free summer concert series. The expansive stage directs sound to our large front lawn, the perfect setting to relax and listen to "cool sounds on a warm night."
